Youths in Cross River’s Communities of Ochon in Obubra and Alesi in Ikom Local Government Areas, have pledged to lay down their weapons and give peace a chance.
They made the pledge when the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Professor Anthony Owan Enoh paid both communities a visit over the weekend.
The SSG representing Governor Bassey Otu, delivered relief materials as a show of the Governor’s care and compassion, and assured the communities that the state government is actively looking into the land dispute and will explore all possible means to bring lasting peace.

Governor Otu reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to peace, unity, and the well-being of all Cross Riverians, assuring that “together, we will overcome challenges and build a stronger Cross River.”
In response, the youths of both communities promised to remain calm and shun all forms of violence while waiting for government’s intervention.
