The Government of Cross River State has replaced monthly sanitation exercise with aerobics and medical checks for civil servants in the state.
In a circular No. 7/2025, signed by the Head of Service, Orok Bassey Okon, on December 5, 2025, the replacement of the monthly sanitation exercise is for a coordinated aerobic fitness session and routine medical check-up.
According to the circular, the exercise will take effect from January 2026, and the monthly sanitation exercise previously observed on the last Friday of every month will now be replaced with a state-wide Aerobics Session at the U.J Esuene Stadium, Calabar, by 7: AM as medical personnel will be on ground to conduct basic health checks for participants.
Civil Servants are required to participate fully in the aerobics and medical screening as part of ongoing efforts to promote health, wellness, and productivity in the state public service, the Head of Service said.
He added that the daily cleaning of all offices shall continue uninterrupted, under the supervision of permanent secretaries and directors of administration to maintain a clean and conducive work environment.
Permanent Secretaries and heads of MDAs are charged to ensure wide circulation of the information and strict compliance with the Governor’s directive.
