Obudu PDP Chapter Chairman Defects, Says Party Is Dead

By Jonathan Ugbal

The Chapter Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP in Obudu, Mr. Frank Atsua on Monday, led members of his working committee and several dozens of others to defect to the All Progressives Congress, APC with the message that the party is dead in the council area.

“I was the last man standing, after me, there is nothing again,” Mr. Atsua said while addressing thousands gathered at the instance of federal lawmaker, Peter Akpanke at the Obudu Local Government council for new year celebrations and sharing of items.

“I am an adult and I know what I want,” he said, adding that, “I will not continue running away.”

Receiving him, the chapter Chairman of the APC in Obudu, Alpha Ublibli commended Governor Bassey Otu and the Chairman of Council, Peter Undiandeye whose achievements, he said, attracted the defections.

He also commended Mr. Akpanke for gathering constituents and providing the platform for the defection while stating that the party does not discriminate.

“APC is a party that does not discriminate. There is nothing like first come, first served. The dividends of democracy will get to everybody,” Mr. Ublibli said.

Also, the Council Chairman, Peter Undiandeye, said the defection signals the end of PDP in Obudu.

“With this defection, this is a total annihilation of PDP in Obudu. Today, what was left of the PDP in Obudu, has been buried by the defection of the Chapter Chairman of the PDP and others,” the Chairman said.

Mr. Undiandeye who said that he had made several outreach to Mr. Atsua, averred that his decision to defect was finalized when, “it became clear that the ship of the PDP cannot stay afloat.”
