Captain Edom Tawo has declared his intention to contest for the position of Member representing the Obubra/Etung federal constituency at the National Assembly on the platform of the All Progressives Congress, APC.
Tawo, a native of Bendeghe Ekiem, picked his Expression of Interest and Nomination Forms at the headquarters of the APC on Tuesday and says his decision sends a clear message; “the era of poor representation must come to an end.”
“The people of Obubra/Etung have been short-changed for far too long and deserve leadership that delivers real results, not excuses,” Tawo says, in a statement to CrossRiverWatch.
The decision to contest, he says, follows “extensive consultations,” which clearly shows his constituents, “have overwhelmingly thrown their weight behind him, citing his proven track record in the private sector and his strong commitment to human capital development.”
“My people are tired of empty promises and ineffective leadership. They have asked me to step forward, and I will not disappoint them,” he declared.
Furthermore, he says his mission is “firmly aligned with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the People First mantra of Sen. Prince Bassey Otu,” even as he pledges to, “deliver real, measurable dividends of democracy with no rhetoric, delays, or excuses.”
But, who is Captain Tawo?
Born Edom Tamunotonye Tawo, he founded Etam Avitat Services limited, an indigenous aviation company, launched in September 2025 that provides premium private aviation support, including handling, fueling, and charter management.
The company is based out of Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.
The decision to go into the aviation business came after years as a pilot in the commercial and private aviation sectors in Nigeria where he rose through the ranks to the apex, after becoming a certified Type Rating Instructor, TRI, and Type Rating Examiner, TRE on multiple aircraft such as the Embraer Regional Jets, ERJ 135/145, Dassault Falcon 8X, Falcon 2000LXS and the Gulfstream IV all which dominate the Nigerian skies.
An alumni of the Harvard Business School, Tawo’s work at his company before venturing into politics, focused on enhancing local capacity in the Nigerian aviation sector through strategic partnerships and professional service.
