A former Guber aspirant in Cross River State, John Upan Odey Jr and former House of Representative hopeful, Prince KJ Jedy-Agba have resigned their membership from the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC.

While Mr. Odey’s resignation happened on May 1st, Prince KJ announced his on Wednesday, exactly 330 days after he joined the party, following his resignation from the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, on June 10, 2025.

Odey and Prince KJ sent their resignation letters to their Ward Chairmen in Urban One and Utugwang Central respectively, both in Obudu Local Government Area.

Odey, a Guber aspirant of the party ahead of the 2019 general elections said he has been part of the party for about a decade and half from its formative stage, and it was time for him to bow out.

Meanwhile, Prince KJ, who sought the ticket of the PDP as its candidate for the position of Member representing Obudu/Obanliku/Bekwarra federal constituency in the 2023 general elections said his short stay in the APC is ending for “effective political participation.”

While Odey ended his 15 year journey with the APV starting from, the Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN, Prince KJ cited strategic political considerations.

“I wish to formally notify you of my resignation of membership of the party which I have been a member for over 15 years from the days of the ACN,” Odey wrote.

“We came to give to this party as pioneers in this part of the country and we have given our all but now we must participate in democracy from elsewhere,” he added.

On his part, Prince KJ wrote: “While my time with the party has been brief, recent political developments and strategic considerations have necessitated this decision.”

“I believe this step is essential to align with a broader vision for effective political participation at such a time as now,” the letter further read.

Prince KJ who wished the party well in its future endeavors, requested the party to, “urgently regularize my resignation by effecting the same on your official documents, both (online and manual) registers, as required by the law.”

Both resignations point to a potential realignment ahead of the 2027 elections, with Obudu LGA emerging as a key battleground with neither confirming their next destination, despite their exit removing two experienced political figures from APC’s Obudu structure.
