BREAKING: 41-Year-Old Man Bags Life Imprisonment For Raping 11 Year-Old In Cross River

Family Court II, presided over by Hon. Justice Blessing Egwu, has convicted 41-year-old man Edurance Ime Sandy, to life imprisonment.

The convict bagged the sentence after found guilty of raping an 11 year old child (name withheld for privacy purpose). Nonsense

Known as a no-nonsense for rape, Justice Blessing Egwu in her ruling on Tuesday, June 16, 2026, found the convict guilty of all the charges preferred against him.

Expressing appreciation for the judgement, Basic Rights Counsel Initiative (BRCI), a None Governmental Organization fighting child abuse and gender based violence, lauded the court for its good ruling.

BRCI said the judgement will serve as deterrent to perpetuators of rape in the state.

The organization extended her appreciation to the Nigerian Army (13 Brigade, Calabar), the Nigeria Police Force Cross River State Command, the Honorable Attorney General of Cross River State, Etubom Ededem Ani, and the staff and volunteers of Basic Rights Counsel Initiative for the invaluable support they provided to the investigators and the child throughout the course of the case.

They also applauded Okoi Ukam, Esq., and Mrs. Linda Asuquo both from the Cross River State Ministry of Justice for their roles for the success of the prosecution.
