The University of Cross River State (UNICROSS) has announced the commencement of its 2026/2027 First Choice Admission Screening Exercise for prospective candidates seeking admission into the institution.
According to the official notice released by the university registry and made available to CrossRiverWatch newsroom, the screening exercise is open to both UTME and Direct Entry candidates who selected UNICROSS as their first-choice institution and scored a minimum of 150 in the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
The university also stated that candidates who did not initially select UNICROSS as their first-choice institution can still participate in the screening process after completing a change of institution through the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) portal.
The online registration for the admission screening exercise is scheduled to commence on Thursday, May 21, 2026.
As part of the registration requirements, applicants are expected to pay a non-refundable screening fee of ₦2,000 through the university’s online application portal. Payment options available include ATM card transactions, bank transfers, USSD, and commercial bank payments.
The institution outlined a structured registration procedure for applicants, which includes visiting the UNICROSS Post-UTME portal, entering JAMB registration details, verifying personal information, purchasing an electronic PIN (E-PIN), completing the application form, uploading necessary documents, and submitting the application online.
Following successful submission, candidates are expected to print their acknowledgment slips and await further instructions from the university regarding the screening exercise.
The school emphasized that only candidates who scored 150 and above and selected the institution as their first choice are eligible for the screening. The university also clarified that applicants are not required to appear physically for the screening exercise, eliminating the need for travel to Calabar or any of its campuses.
Additionally, candidates are advised to carefully confirm the campus location of their preferred courses before proceeding with registration to avoid errors during the application process.
The announcement is expected to provide clarity for thousands of prospective students preparing for admission into the university for the 2026/2027 academic session.
