No fewer than 458 police officers of the Cross River State Command have been promoted from the rank of Constable to Corporal, with the Commissioner of Police, CP Rashid B. Afegbua, tasking them to justify their elevation through professionalism, integrity, and improved service delivery.
The decoration ceremony, held on Tuesday, June 2, 2026, at the Command Headquarters in Calabar, marking one of the largest promotion exercises within the Command in recent times and forms part of the welfare and motivation initiatives of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu.
While decorating the newly promoted officers, CP Afegbua congratulated them on their advancement and reminded them that promotion comes with increased responsibilities and higher expectations.
He charged the officers to remain committed to the core values of the Nigeria Police Force by upholding discipline, professionalism, accountability, and dedication in the discharge of their duties.
According to the Commissioner, in a statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer ASP Sunday Eitokpah, the promotion is a recognition of diligence, dedication, and outstanding service, and should serve as motivation for the officers to redouble their efforts toward effective policing and public safety.
The police boss emphasized the need for ethical conduct and community-oriented policing as key tools for strengthening public confidence in the Force.
Speaking on behalf of the promotees, one of the newly decorated corporals expressed appreciation to the Inspector-General of Police, the Police Management Team, and the Commissioner of Police for the recognition.
The officer assured the police leadership of the beneficiaries’ continued loyalty and commitment to protecting lives and property across the state.
The event was attended by members of the Command Management Team and other senior officers.
