The Management of the University of Cross River State (UNICROSS) has announced the appointment of new Directors, Heads of Department (HODs), and Desk Officers across various academic and administrative units of the institution as part of efforts to strengthen leadership and improve service delivery.
The appointments, which took effect on June 30, 2026, include Prof. Emmanuel Uttah as Director of the Directorate of Research; Dr. Anthony Otiko as Desk Officer of the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) and Director of Career Services; and Prof. James Akpama as the pioneer Outcome-Based Education Desk Officer following the establishment of the newly created Outcome-Based Education Desk.
Others appointed are Dr. Emeng Iyeme as Acting Head, Department of Mathematics; Dr. Gertrude Fischer as Acting Head, Department of Electrical/Electronic Engineering; Dr. Cassius Ogar as Acting Head, Department of Business Administration; Dr. Jonathan Osang as Acting Head, Department of Physics; Dr. Fidelis Abeng as Acting Head, Department of Chemistry; Dr. Moses Eka as Acting Head, Department of Biochemistry; Dr. Isaac Ubi Essien as Acting Head, Department of Anatomy; Dr. Benedict Idam as Acting Head, Department of Physiology; and Engr. Dr. Emmanuel Ekeng as Acting Head, Department of Civil Engineering.
The newly appointed Director of Research and Acting Heads of Department assumes office following the expiration of the tenures of their predecessors. The appointments underscore the University’s commitment to excellence, competence, and continuity in academic and administrative leadership.
The Management was also praised for its visionary leadership, commitment to fairness, and dedication to positioning the University of Cross River State for greater academic excellence and sustainable development.
