Otu Appoints Utsu John As Cross River Tourism Bureau MD

The Cross River State Governor, Senator Bassey Otu, has approved the appointment of Mr. Utsu John Atsu as the new Managing Director of the Cross River State Tourism Bureau.

The appointment was contained in a press release issued by the Chief Press Secretary and Special Adviser to the Governor on Media and Publicity, Linus Obogo, and made available to the CrossRiverWatch newsroom on Tuesday, September 8, 2026.

According to the statement, the appointment is part of Governor Otu administration’s effort to strengthen the state’s tourism sector and maximise its cultural, ecological and hospitality assets.

Mr. Utsu will be responsible for providing strategic leadership for the tourism sector, coordinating tourism development and promoting attractions capable of drawing visitors and investment into the state.

He is charged to preserve and promote Cross River’s cultural and ecological heritage, development of tourism facilities, attraction of private-sector investment and creation of employment opportunities within the hospitality and tourism value chain.

According to the appointment release, the governor’s administration expects Atsu to provide what it described as “purposeful leadership” to the Bureau while deepening its contribution to sustainable development, investment and job creation.

The new appointment is also expected to support the continued positioning of Cross River State as a leading tourism destination in Nigeria, particularly by leveraging its rich cultural, ecological and hospitality endowments.
