Cross River State and Niger Delta’s foremost investigative media outfit, CrossRiverWatch, has received a new batch of Industrial Training (IT) students from the Department of Mass Communication, University of Cross River State (UNICROSS).

The 14 students who either chose or got recommended to CrossRiverWatch will embark on a four-week intensive practical field experience.

The industrial attachment is part of their mandatory one month field experience in various areas of journalism and media practice.

Welcoming the students during their official engagement in CrossRiverWatch office at No 15, Kings Street, Big Qua Town, Calabar, the News Editor Patrick Obia welcomed and urged them to brace up for a wonderful experience ahead.

Patrick urged them to utilize the Industrial Training period as the period might not present itself again in their academic journey.

He enjoined them to put in their best, learn and be better versions of themselves not only for the grade but because many are looking up to them as role models.

Obia emphasized the importance of discipline, commitment, dedication, punctuality and hard work in the journalism profession.

On his part, CrossRiverWatch industrial training Coordinator and Co-coordinator Kelvin Ololo and Sylvia Akpan, respectively, implored them to be open-minded and be ready to learn, unlearn and relearn a lot in journalism and the world of media.

The students in appreciation assured that they are willing to take the bull by the horn to amass as much knowledge as they could within the short period.

The orientation session provided the students with an opportunity to understand the expectations of the organization and the professional standards required of aspiring journalists.

It was wrapped up with a questions and answers session.
