In what appears to be the fear of contracting the dreaded Ebola virus, there was low turnout of fans at the U.J. Esuene stadium, Calabar during the CAF AFCON, match between the Super Eagles of Nigeria and Devils of Congo this evening.

Though, there was thorough screening to ascertain the state of health of fans and other officials entering the stadium, football lovers still boycotted the live match preferring to watch it in the comfort of their homes via television for fear of contracting the deadly Ebola virus.

The 12,000 capacity stadium had only a handful of fans; approximately 5,000 who were determined to watch the game live and to cheer the players.

The situation was very unusual to many sport lovers in the Paradise City, which some fans predicted to be connected to Nigeria losing 3-2 to Congo, perhaps, “it could be due to low cheers from the crowd,” said one of the Nigerian fans.
