Cross River State Governor, Senator Ben Ayade yesterday, ordered that payment of June 2015 salary of the state civil servants be done not later than Friday, June 26th.

‎A statement by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Mrs. Tina Banku Agbor, said “The gesture is in keeping with Governor Ayade’s commitment to ensuring prompt payment of salaries to all categories of the state’s work force on the 25th of every month.

“Regular and timely payment of wages to workers will among others, enhance their welfare with the overall objectives of promoting efficiency and productivity in the civil service.”

The Governor, according to the statement, urged workers to reciprocate government’s good intention by upholding good work ethics, adherence to rules and regulations and being creative at all times in the discharge of their duties.”

Meanwhile, work has begun on the garment factory proposed by the Governor.

Sited on a six hectare parcel of land along the Goodluck Jonathan by-pass, Calabar, the garment factory which is one of Governor Ayade’s industrialization initiatives is aimed at generating employment for the citizenry.

Upon completion, the factory is expected to generate about a thousand jobs.

The governor is doing well by paying state civil servants. How about local government civil servants, including primary school teachers. Some of them have not been paid for 3 months now. What is the government doing about that?

The Governor Sen. Prof. Ben. Ayade meant well for the entire work force and Crossriverians. There should be a follow up after the Governor’s directive because there are bad eggs in the system that will make the prompt payment of salaries on 25th of every month impossible. Thank you.
