The State Governor, Senator Ben Ayade has given matching orders to the State Ministry of Works and the Road Maintenance Agency to immediately fix all Calabar City roads.
A statement issued by his Special Assistant on Media and Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Christian Ita, said the governor wants every single road in Calabar fixed ahead of Carnival Calabar, reputed to be Africa’s biggest street party.
The governor, the statement added, also reaffirmed his commitment to completing all political appointments this month.
“Once all the appointments have been made, His Excellency would have brought additional 700 people into the state’s payroll,” the statement stated.
Continuing, it explained that the intention of bringing so many people into government was borne out of the Governor’s “desire to expand government as a way of reducing poverty, increasing democratic participation and improve the value of service delivery.”
