Following the face-off between some members of the Cross River State House of Assembly and the Governor’s office over allegations that the House of Assembly is been taken for granted by the Governor’s office, the Special Adviser, Governor’s Office and Event Management, Mr. Ken Aklah has apologized to the House of Assembly.

Mr. Aklah who spoke with CrossRiverWatch on the phone said he never intended by any of his action to spite or denigrate anyone, not to talk of the House of Assembly, and if any of his action was ever deemed as such, he was very sorry and wanted the House of Assembly to forgive him.

“I wish to state clearly that I cannot for any reason, take the Honorable members or the Cross River State House of Assembly for granted. I agree that they may be some operational lapses which may have led to improper interfacing between my office and the office of the Chairman, House Committee on Culture, Tourism and Events Management, but that could not have in anyway meant, I or the Governor’s office is taking anyone for granted, how much more the House of Assembly.

“And I cannot and should not become the reason why the Assembly should have any issues with the governor’s office having enjoyed this kind of robust relationship with the House since His Excellency took office. If the House of Assembly feels slighted or offended in anyway by my actions, I want to sincerely say I am sorry and to state that I never ever intended to spite anyone.” He said.

It will be recalled that some members of the House of Assembly has threatened that the House will henceforth boycott all state function because the Governor’s office was taking the House for granted and not carrying them along in the schedule of activities.
