The Vice Chancellor, University of Calabar, Prof. Zana Akpagu has disclosed that the institution has completed plans with contracts awarded for the building of additional 4 hostels, 3 classroom blocks, 4000 chairs and tables as well as air conditioners for the lecture halls.
The VC made the disclosure Tuesday during a thank you protest by students of the institution’s Centre for Educational Services (CES) in appreciation of the VC’s response to their plea to slash their school fees.
Prof. Zana emphasized that their school fees needs to be used for their welfare as he knows their plight being an old boy of the institution.
Concluding, Akpagu admonished the students to be serious with their studies to make the sky their starting point while assuring them that his doors are always open to all and sundry.
Earlier, the UNICAL Center for Educational Services Students Union President, Ikashi Benjamin expressed gratitude to the management team led by Prof. Zana Akpagu for reducing their fee from seventy thousand (70, 000) naira to fifty-nine thousand (59, 000) naira only.
Also they commended him for mobilizing a student team to head for their NYSC negotiations in Abuja stating that by such action, the Zana led administration is down to earth and poised to moving the University higher.
Ikashi concluded by soliciting for more support for the Zana led administration.
The students were seen carrying placards bearing felicitations towards the school authority.
