The Obudu Face of Culture International Queen, Miss Perpetual Adie has decried the decline of cultural values and the dearth of traditional norms saying they are fast eroding with the history of the people.
The Queen, in an exclusive interview with CrossRiverWatch said one of her pet projects will focus on the sensitization of youths on the need to hold tight to their cultural values.
Her words, “I will like to awaken the cultural potentials of my people and showcase them to the world. This will be done by organizing series of sensitization programs. I will go further to set up cultural clubs in the ten political wards of Obudu and promote the use of Obudu vernacular.
The former Miss Northern Cross River added that she will go further to teach the people how “this culture they have come to appreciate can be sustained for generations yet unborn.”
Adding that, she would embark on malaria outreach in rural areas, so as to intimate persons living in the areas of the harmfulness and available prevention methods. These among other things she says she hopes to achieve before the end of her reign.
Queen Perpetual further stated that the only thing standing between her and the actualization of her planned projects is funds, as there is a whole lot of gap between planning and actualization.
Finally, she said the contest has opened her eyes to so many opportunities and given her a better understanding of life, as she is now fully prepared to take on whatever life throws at her.
