The Cross River Commissioner of Environment, Engr. Mike Eraye has stated that his Ministry and indeed the State is ready for the evacuation of waste that will be generated from the Ayade Industrial Park.
The Commissioner who was speaking to journalists on the sideline of the Acting President’s visit said the Ministry has thought ahead of time of the challenges that will come as a result of the development of that axis and is thinking about solutions.
“Let me take the rice city, the rice seeds will be washed and produced, so you will have liquid waste. Since most of us have our attention focused on the easier one which is solid waste. We will have a modern facility, which will serve as a treatment pit; here we have put the preliminaries in place, we would create an evacuation center and connect it with the network in the city that is already in place” Eraye disclosed.
The Commissioner stated that the State Government will continue to work and liaise with the Federal Government despite their different political parties, as development doesn’t recognize party lines, saying that “once you are doing something good you are going to find people around you”.
