Cross River State Governor, Senator Ben Ayade has said that his decision to embark on so many projects despite lean resources in his first term in office is because he does not want to leave any project incomplete or abandoned at the point of his exit from office.
Governor Ayade disclosed this in an exclusive interview with CrossRiverWatch’s Agba Jalingo and Ukung Alawa in his office on Tuesday where he also disclosed that the tags attached to the budgets he presented had much more deeper meanings.
“Why am I carrying everything at a go? Because when I want to leave and I leave, I have no abandoned project, I have no uncompleted project.
“If I started some of the projects I am starting now in second term, I definitely will not be near completing them.
“But today, if you look at almost all the factories that I have started, they are all at commissioning phases and that shows that by second term, all the breath of my life will be focused on the deep seaport and the superhighway,” Ayade said.
On the titles of the budgets presented so far, he averred that: “Before now, when I started, it was a budget of deep vision. I had envisioned a state, but, again I had to stretch my vision so my second year budget was infinite transposition – looking at the possibility of taking everything together.”
CrossRiverWatch had reported that Mr. Ayade said most of his projects are financed creatively in a manner that sees the state spend less to get more.
