Detained journalist, Human Right Activist and Publisher of CrossRiverWatch, Citizen Agba Jalingo has won the Gani Fawehinmi Impact and Integrity Award (GFIIA) while in prison.
Jalingo, “a prisoner of conscience” according to Amnesty International, is confirmed with the whistle-Blowers Award (WBA 2019) in recognition of his impartial commitment to integrity to humanity via investigative journalism is awarded by the governing Board of HEDA resource center with endorsement of GFIIA committee.
Recalled that Citizen Jalingo was nominated for the second edition of Gani Fawehinmi Impact and Integrity Award (GFIIA) on 16th November, 2019. He was nominated into the valuable whistle blower category.
HEDA Resource Centre, with the support of MacArthur Foundation, had institute an Annual Award called Gani Fawehinmi Impact and Integrity Award (GFIIA).
The award which is named in honor of late Human Rights activist, Chief Gani Fawehinmi is designed to reward act of Integrity, Accountability and Whistleblowing to deserving Nigerians. To this end, HEDA presents its Annual Celebration and Honor for Integrity, Accountability and Whistleblowing to deserving Patriots.
The award aims to encourage, promote, celebrate and protect the uncommon principles of openness, honesty, probity, accountability and transparency in public and private life and whistleblowing to deserving persons and bodies.
