Calling That Travesty That Happened On Saturday In Rivers State An Election, Shocks Me – WITTY THOUGHT WITH KEN HENSHAW

In Breaking News, Opinion, Politics

This is a column by Ken Henshaw, Executive Director of We The People. WITTY THOUGHT is a brisk review of situations in Nigeria with intent to revive social consciousness.

That people are on radio and social media calling that travesty that happened on Saturday in Rivers State an election, shocks me.

As expected, the PDP won all available seats!

In 2014 when LGA elections held in Anambra State, APGA won all 20 seats contested.

In 2020, when Ondo State conducted LGA polls, the APC won all 18 Council seats.

The fraud with Local Government elections have nothing to do with political parties, it is the default set up that the party in power, no matter how poorly performing, must will all the seats.

So why do these Governors even bother spending public resources organizing these charades? They should save us the restriction of movement and waste of public money by just sending their list of selected officers to be announced on RSTV and Radio Rivers.

See what these Governors have turned the State electoral commissions to? Mere appendages of their political empires.

Now imagine what they will do if they are allowed to have State Police … they will chase the opposition away from the State and declare war between states!

This view is strictly mine.
