By CrossRiverWatch Admin

Ahead of the November 2 local government election, Cross River State Commissioner of Police, CP Gryogon Augustine Grimah, has assured a peaceful exercise.

Briefing the media shortly after the state security meeting presided over by the state governor, Senator Otu, at his temporary office, CP Grimah disclosed that the focus of the meeting was the scheduled November 2 local government election.

Attended by the Deputy Governor as well as other heads of security agencies in the state, Grimah said: “It was critical that we had to meet ahead of the election in order to strategize to ensure a peaceful exercise. The people of Cross River State are known for their peaceful nature and we are confident that this would be reflected before, during, and after the elections.”

He assured citizens that they should be free to exercise their voting rights, as the environment would be conducive for all.

According to CP Grimah, “all relevant security agencies in the state are united and have fully deployed their resources to guarantee the safety of citizens and maintain law and order during the elections.”

Grimah, however, cautioned that anyone considering disrupting the peace and harmony of the state during the elections should abandon those thoughts now. Adding that “We are all peace-loving people, and I urge everyone to work towards a peaceful election for the benefit of our state.”

According to the Chief Press Secretary to Governor Bassey Otu, Mr. Gill Nsa, the Police Boss noted that “with security agencies fully prepared and collaborating to ensure a peaceful electoral process, the citizens of Cross River State can confidently exercise their voting rights without fear,” as he urged the electorate to embrace the prevailing peaceful atmosphere in the state and come out to vote on the election day.

In attendance during the meeting were the State Security Adviser, Major General Ubi Obono (rtd) and Chief of Staff to the Governor, Hon. Emmanuel Ironbar.
