State Government Constitutes Committee To Negotiate N70K Minimum Wage

The Governor of Cross River State, Sen. Bassey Otu has approved the constitution of a Joint Public Service Negotiating and Implementation Committee on the new N70,000 National Minimum Wage and its consequential adjustments in the state.

The Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Nsa Gill confirmed the development in a press release on October, 31st, 2024.

The committee is expected to commence sitting from November 1, 2024, and is tasked with negotiating and implementing the consequential adjustments arising from the new National Minimum Wage.

The committee chaired by the Head of Service, Obol Dr. Innocent Etung, comprises representatives from various government agencies, labor unions, and stakeholders.

Members are the Special Adviser, Labour and Productivity; Permanent Secretary, Local Government Service Commission; Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Finance; Permanent Secretary/Solicitor General, Ministry of Justice; Permanent Secretary, (PSO), Office of the Head of Service; Permanent Secretary, Office of the SSG/GAO; the Accountant General of the State, Permanent Secretary and Budget.

Others include the Chairman Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) -Comrade Olayi Gregory, Chairman of Trade Union Congress (TUC) -Comrade Ogbodum Monday, Chairman Joint Service Negotiating Council (JNC) – Comrade Akan Raymond Afu, the President Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE) – Comrade Otabe Obono Leko, Chairman of Medical and Health Workers Union (MHWUN) – Comrade Benedict Ukpebi, Chairman of Parliamentary Staff Union CRS (PASAN)- Comrade Lawrence Achuta and Secretary Association of Senior Civil Servants of Nigeria CRS (ASCSN), Comrade Cletus Oke.

The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Establishments, will serve as the committee’s secretary.
