The University of Calabar yesterday, 4th July, 2014 matriculated five thousand three hundred and five (5305) fresh students into various faculties and institutes of the school at the Abraham Ordia stadium within the campus.
The Vice Chancellor of the school Professor James Epoke, who led the procession of principal officers including deans of the various faculties, while declaring the convocation ceremony open advised students to set their priorities right and shun all “extraordinary” associations.
He said, “Let me specially use this opportunity to welcome you into the UNICAL family. A family known for its strides in academic excellence and ground breaking research and therefore, we expect nothing below the UNICAL standard from you.”
He further advised the freshers to take their studies seriously as their journey into success or failure starts now.
The matriculation ground was a beehive of activities as both parents and well wishers of the new undergraduates were on ground to felicitate with them.
