After weeks of wrangling amongst stakeholders and the elected councillors, both parties came to a compromise over those to function as officials of the legislature in Ogoja; consequently, the Chairman of Ogoja Local Government Area, Hon. Rita Agbo Ayim over the weekend inaugurated the Legislative arm of the Council.
Mr. Christopher Moshe of Ekajuk I, is to serve as the Leader of Council and Mr. Peter Ncha Obi of Mbube West II as deputy leader.
Inaugurating the Councilors, Hon. Rita Agbo Ayim charged them to work hard and be prepared to see themselves as worthy ambassadors of their respective wards they represent.
The Chairman stressed that the swearing in of the Councilors mark the dissolution of the former legislature and the inauguration of new a legislative Council to be managed by the leader of Council, his deputy and majority leader respectively.
Hon. Rita Ayim thanked the Ogoja people for making it possible for her and the entire Councilors to be inaugurated.
She used the opportunity to wish the Councilors well and charged them to see themselves as one big family irrespective of their political ideology, as she assured the Councilors of her total readiness to carry Ogoja to the next level.
Christopher Moshe in his response thanked the people of Ogoja and the Councilors for electing him as their leader to pilot the affairs of the house for the next three (3) years. The leader of Council charged his colleagues to put behind them all the difference that has existed between them and thanked them for their understanding and maturity.
He assured the people of Ogoja that the house will surely make by-laws that will be productive, and promised that they will do everything possible to move Ogoja to the next level as he called for team work if they must achieve the essence of them being elected by their people.
Also speaking, Hon Peter Ncha Obi representing Mbube West II, also assured the people of Ogoja of their readiness to make productive laws that will benefit the entire ten wards of the L.G.A. He further stressed that the house will work collectively with the executive Chairman of Council Hon. Rita Ayim for them to achieve the ultimate results for the development of their people.
Hon. Ncha further said his colleagues have put behind all the differences that existed amongst them which delayed their inauguration from taking place alongside their colleagues in other Local Government of the state. He advised his colleagues to be committed, and remain loyal to a system that gave them the opportunity to serve their father land.
He called for unity amongst the people of Ogoja, saying without this they cannot achieve success especially now that the governorship of the state has been zoned to the northern part of the state.
