Nollywood actor, Eric Anderson says he has been endorsed by entertainers in Cross River to run for the State House of Assembly come 2015.
Mr. Anderson made this known in a meeting convened recently by the Actors Guild of Nigeria Electoral Committee, AGNEC, to consider conducting election for the Cross River chapter of Actors Guild of Nigeria, AGN.
According to the thespian who is also jostling to be reelected as the Chairman of the state Actors Guild of Nigeria “I am pleased to inform you, colleagues of this industry that I have been endorsed by Cross River Entertainers Forum, CREF to run for House of Assembly next year.”
Eric Anderson posited that when he eventually lands a seat in the state legislature things would turn out well for the long neglected film industry in the state.
Following his announcement of the support from CREF, Anderson’s fliers were circulated amongst members of the guild during the meeting.
Similar stickers sponsored by Ward 1 Youth Movement have also recently been seen on windscreens of vehicles in Calabar
If Mr. Anderson succeeds in getting a seat in the legislature, he will be the second actor after Sunday Owoche, current member of Yala Legislative Council, to hold political office in Cross River.
It will be recalled that Eric Anderson had once contested as councilor in 2010 under Labour Party, LP, but crossed carpeted to People’s Democratic Party, PDP, shortly after he lost the election to PDP.
