The Senate Leader, Victor Ndoma-Egba (CRS-PDP), says he will seek the mandate of his constituency and party for a fourth term in the Senate in 2015. He said his state and constituency stand to lose if he is not returned.

Mr. Ndoma-Egba, who represents Cross River Central Senatorial District, made this known in an interview with newsmen in Calabar on Sunday. He said such mandate would be beneficial to Cross River if the PDP obliged him.

The lawmaker is said to be having a running battle with the state governor, Liyel Imoke, over the governor’s plan to vie for the same seat.

Mr. Imoke would have completed his constitutionally permitted two-term as governor in 2015. Both men are from the same senatorial district.

Mr. Ndoma-Egba said it was not necessary to recount everything he had so far done for or attracted to his constituency as that could be seen as blowing his own trumpet.

The Senate leader said that he had done much for his constituents as a mark of service and responsibility.

Mr. Ndoma-Egba said he was, however, not desperate for a fourth term ticket, adding that if he failed to actualise his desire, he could always go back to his legal practice.

“If I am given the mandate by my people and the PDP, it will benefit the state and my constituents. It is not all about me. I have empowered my constituency.

“More than 500 students have benefited from a scholarship program I started before becoming a Senator. I have attracted a water project from the World Bank, various road projects and so on to my constituency.

“I am not, however, desperate. If I do not go back for the fourth term, I can still go back to my lucrative law practice. I am a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN).

“But in this case, who suffers – Cross River State, my constituency. This is because it will take time for another legislator from this state to rise to the position of Senate Leader.

“If I am obliged the mandate to go back to the Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, who knows, I can get something higher and attract more benefits to Cross River State. (NAN)

No doubts Senator Ndoma-Egba has performed creditably and deserved resounding kudos. But whether he deserves another mandate is strictly for the electorates to decide and then of course the people’s Democratic party of which he is a high ranking member and the following factors possibly coming to play:

1 . principal of zoning :considering that the
central senatorial district has old Ikom and old obubura and in 2015 which of the two the position of deputy governor is most likely to be zoned to

    2. The position of the State Working exco: whether we agree or not It is common knowledge that this group has a very significant role to play as to who takes what prior to an election. The inner workings of this body is a key determinant factor.

    3. Delegates for primaries: The most important of the lot have the mandate to elect the standard flag bearer. The composition of this group of persons leaves much to be desired

Hmmm. Its really a time to reason wt the foot soldiers, time for accountability and to the good ppl of central—-,time to ask some ppl what they have to offer in the floor of the senate. Allow whome the cap fits to wear. Allow victor carry on jare, even if some think he has not done ok, whoever tells you he has the magic of going there to do better than him is a deceiver. David mark who was given fourth term is not better than victor, so if he must be shown his way out, then without prejudice to whatever position his opponents may hold; let the ppl ask them what there have to offer in the floor of the senate better than the record victor have presented. But i ask, if another person goes and does not do better after hijacking our mandate; what will the ppl do to such a hibbernating politician?? Cross River needs prayers and deliverance frm self agrandising politicians.

And what has been the gain of his central senatorial and Cross River since he was voted Senator. Ewa Henshaw got a dam for southern senatorial zone, what has his senatorial got to celebrate after twelve years in the Senate? Shameless and stingy man with Japanese hand brake.

Thats the biggest joke of the century! it is what happens when a butterfly thinks himself a bird…cross river has nothing to loose by finally deciding for themselves, for once’ a brand new PEOPLE”s SENATOR…after all, what are the gains so far?other than the continued highhandedness and elitist politicking.
