The Goddy Jedy Agba Campaign Organization has the resources, capacity and the readiness to make every vote in the 2015 elections count.
Dr. Sandy Onor, the Director General designate of the Goddy Jedy Agba Campaign Organization stated this on Saturday in Ogoja Northern Cross River while speaking at the Ogoja Family meeting which held at the Gomara Hotel, Ogoja.
He said he finds in Goddy Jedy Agba a man who is courageous, capable and ready to be the next governor of Cross River State and has aligned forces with him to ensure the dream of Ogoja producing a governor is actualized in 2015.
“Over a year ago I started meeting with some of my brothers from the north and suggested to them that they should begin the process of working towards running for the position of governor but each person I met was so afraid so much so that I started wondering what the matter with them was”.
He said he sees in Goddy Agba a man who has the exposure, the determination, integrity and capacity to function as a governor not just for the Northern Senatorial District but the entire state.
“There have been many movements to His Excellency to thank him for zoning the position of governor to the north, I totally align myself with that but it also suggest that if not for the declaration fear would not have allowed anybody from the north to say this is our turn and I will contest for the post”.
Onor asserted that Senator Liyel Imoke has the right to support the aspirant of his choice but that does not mean the vote of everyone in the PDP would not count.
“Everyone has a vote and if a candidate gets one million votes and you with one vote cast your vote for him and he gets one million and one votes, that one vote could make him win and of course everyone in the party has one vote no matter his position.”
He said the Goddy Jedy Agba Campaign Organization believes in door-to-door, one-on-one and village campaign and very soon “when the momentum of the campaign gets to the peak, nobody would tell the pretenders and the lily livered to go into hiding”.
He called on the people of the Northern Senatorial District to be united and courageous to work towards installing a governor from the zone and put pay to insults and insinuations that there is nobody from Ogoja who can be governor. “What does it take to run the affairs of a state, is it rocket science? Even if it is rocket science, I know there are people who are educated enough here to know the dynamics and calculations of rocket science.”
The Convener of the meeting, Udie Michael Adie, a businessman cum politician said the meeting was convened to enable youths, political leaders, and opinion leaders in the five local government areas of the north reach a consensus on who to support in the race for the position of governor for the state.
He said someone who is courageous and independent should be supported to ensure that he would not be subject to the whims and dictates of a few in the state. “If the position has been zoned to the north, why seek to choose who should be governor other than who the people want?”
He said he brought together people who are between the ages of 30 to 60 who know the challenges facing the north so that they could dialogue and address those challenges.
At the end of the meeting, the Communiqué signed by representatives of the five local government areas of the district expressed support for Goddy Jedy Agba who has been bold and courageous enough to declare his intention to run for the post “since others are still afraid to come out and say they want to lead our state”
