Mrs Rita Ayim, the Chairman of Ogoja Local Government Area has called for constructive criticism and ideas that can help improve Ogoja Local Government Area.
Mrs Ayim made the call while presenting a bill for the passage of a bye-law by the Ogoja legislature on the harmonized tax that would help improve revenue generation for the development of the area.
The bill proposes harmonization of taxes, levies and charges to improve on the revenue generation of the area with the help of the point on sale (POS) system.
Presenting the bill to Ogoja legislative council, the Chairman Hon. Rita Agbo Ayim said the bye-law when passed will greatly improve the internally generated revenue (IGR) of the council, improve allocation from the federation account which is based on the revenue of a council area and eliminate fraud in tax collection.
She noted that such revenue would be used to improve on the infrastructural development of the area and to justify the essence of the tax collected from the citizenry.
The Chairman used the opportunity to thank the legislature for their maturity and promised a cordial relationship between the legislature and the executive arm while affirming that the only way Ogoja can move forward is for all hands to be on deck.
