Cross River State Security Adviser Mr. Rekpene Bassey has said government is not taking security issues for granted despite the peaceful nature of the state.
Speaking during an interview with newsmen in Calabar during the launching of the Security Trust Fund recently, Mr. Bassey expressed delight that Cross River State, is the most peaceful in the entire country, adding that, security is necessary to sustain the state socio-economic development.
He said that as a Tourist State, Security is the number one priority of government; to ensure zero crime tolerance for both citizens and investors.
While assuring the security agencies in the state of support at all times, the SSA said, to whom much is given much is expected, stressing that security is the most priced issue in Imoke’s administration.
He charged all Service Commanders to carry out their duties diligently for the growth and development of Cross River State.
Mr. Bassey noted that when the vision of the trust fund would have been fully actualized, Cross Riverians will witness 21st Century Policing with the full motivation of the Security Agencies.
He said that the trust fund will go a long way in sustaining the security plan of the State while calling for synergy between the public and private sector to actualize the project.
Also speaking, Ernest Aji, the Executive Secretary of Cross River State Security Trust Fund, stated that the fund was established by law No. 3 of Cross River State House of Assembly and has a fourteen man board drawn from the private sector, which has a Secretary who sits on the Executive Council.
