The Executive Chairman of Abi Local Government council, Mrs. Edith Amadi has praised the leadership qualities of the Obol Lopon of Ugep and Paramount Ruler of Yakurr Local Government council, Obol Ubi Ujong Inah, describing him as a man of peace.
Mrs. Amadi who was at the palace of the Paramont Ruler recently to thank him over his peace entreaty to the warring Ediba and Usumutong communities in Abi LGA, said that the initiative was already yielding results.
She also described the Obol Lopon as a monarch with tremedous capacity to effect change within and outside his traditional jurisdiction summiting that the Yakurr monarch was indeed a role model among equals.
The Abi council boss reiterated that peace was very critical to the success of her administration while commending Obol Lopon for his interest in her local government area and the will to wade into the communal feud.
She promised to give the Obol Lopon the necessary support for permanent peace to be brokered beteween both communities assuring also that the peace and reconcialtion committee comprising of leaders from the two communities which was set up by the monarch would be given maximum support accordingly.
Mrs. Amadi appealed to the committee to work in unison towards achieving th mandate given to it by the Obol Lopon of Ugep maintaining that their names along side the Yakurr monarch would be written in gold as those who helped to return peace between the brother communities of Ediba and Usumutong.
She added that her administration has no doubt about the capacity of the Obol Lopon of Ugep and his peace committee to resolve the crisis; hence the confidence reposed on them and stressed that the monarch’s resolve to intervene in the crisis was very instructive.
The Abi council boss prayed God to grant him more strength and wisdom to reign effectively in his kingdom and beyond.
Responding, the Obol Lopon of Ugep and Paramont Ruler of Yakurr Local Government area, HRH Obol Ubi Ujong Inah sympathized with the Chairman and the Governor of the State, Senator Liyel Imoke as well as the peace loving people of Abi over the ugly development and the consequent discomfort it has caused them.
He lamented that the Chairman was already going through difficlt times in the wake of her adminsitration and promised to do all within his powers to ensure that peace returned to Usumutong and Ediba communities.
