NACRISS President Frowns At Frivolous Courtesy Visits By Exco Members

The President, National Association of Cross River State Students World Wide, NACRISS WW Comrade Philomina Agweye has expressed worries over acts of some undisclosed members of her union who she alleged pay courtesy visits and solicit for financial support in the name of the Union without her official approval and at times without her consent.

In a release signed by the NACRISS Information Director, Comrade Okam Johnson and the Chief Press Secretary to the President, Comrade Monday Ogar, and made available to our reporter in Calabar, the President decried the frivolous visits and other such illegitimate activities which have been ongoing for some months now and described them as detrimental to the growth and development of the association.

She said such courtesy calls have been paid to Hon. Owan Eno and several governorship aspirants in Cross River state. She said such anti union activities were unacceptable and cautioned politicians and the general public to be weary of such visits.

“No visit/request whatsoever should be entertained when it has to do with NACRISS World Wide if the President’s approval is not given. Any letter for visits or appeal that comes to you, kindly contact the office of the President to verify”, the statement advised while also warning those involved in the ‘ignoble act’ to desist as anyone caught will be brought to book.

The President also expressed worries about plans by members of council of the Union to call for a general congress of the union in an undisclosed date and venue describing the plan as illegal.

According to the statement, section 9, sub-section 3 of NACRISS World Wide constitution gives only the World Wide President the prerogative to convene a general congress of Nacrites.

When our reporter contacted the Chairman NACRISS Council, World Wide, Comrade Osebi Egbung he said “We agreed to call for a congress but the date and time has not been fixed because the last time we met with the President we inquired when she intends to call for a general congress and she said very soon which has not come to play till date when by August 12 they will be leaving office”.
