Facts have emerged on how the new APC chairman in Cross River State, Hon Usani Usani emerged as a sole contestant during the last rescheduled state congress held at Tinapa Resort, Calabar.
The new Chairman who led Cross River State delegates to the recent national convention of the APC said “I was appealed to become the chairman “because those who have been parading themselves are political traders.”
Usani who was the candidate of the defunct Action Congress of Nigeria ACN in February 12, 2012 governorship election was not part of those who contested the election before the last rescheduled congress.
He was considered to be a one way man who cannot be easily bought by the agents of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party in the State.
Asked how he found himself in the race for the chairmanship of the party, Usani said “The more I intend to take my cool the more they look for me.
“I was in the entourage of the party faithfuls to Port Harcourt and when there were crisis of words among those who called themselves leaders of the party and I rose up my hand to speak my mind and after I spoke, Governor Rotimi Amaechi said why can’t you be the chairman that we are looking for and I said no, he asked why and I said: “It is not just, fair and not in the belief of the principle of justice because I supported the zoning of the position to the southern senatorial district.
“Today however the rest is history as Governor Amaechi asked us to go back and sort it out and everyone stepped down in the spirit of the party.
“The PDP implants in APC are not happy because they have lost out and the era of political trading is gone with PDP.” He said
