The University of Calabar, UNICAL chapter of Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU has suspended academic activities for three days in honor of their member, late Dr. Godwin Iwatt who was shot by some suspected gunmen in his office last semester.
This was made known in a statement made available to CrossRiverWatch which says from Wednesday, June 10, 2014 academic activities will be suspended in honor of their late colleague.
The suspension of academic activities according to the statement by the union chairman Mr. James Okpiliya is in honor of Dr. Godwin Iwatt who was shot death last semester in his office.
The Union had a Monday organized a procession on campus as a mark of honor to their late colleague.
As a result of this, the Dean of Students Affairs, Prof. Eyong also released a statement announcing the postponement of the fresher’s orientation that was billed for yesterday, Wednesday till further notice.
