Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has rescheduled the distribution of permanent voters’ cards to registered voters and the registration of new voters in Cross River State from the scheduled 18th July to the 15th of August 2014.
Mr. Mike Igini, the Resident Electoral Commissioner for Cross River State told CrossRiverWatch that the distribution of voters cards will now take place in the state on the 15th through the 18th of August while the registration of those who just attained the voting age and those who had issues during the previous registration exercise will now be on the 20th through the 25th of August 2014.
The distribution Igini said will take effect simultaneously in all the polling units across the state on the new dates for the distribution and registration.
He attributed the rescheduling of the exercise to the oncoming election in Osun State which requires the completion of the exercise in the state to allow for smooth and credible voting in the election.
