The All Progressives Congress in Cross River State has called for the extension of the distribution of the Permanent Voters Card in the state to enable all those registered collect their cards.
Vice Chairman of the party in Cross River Central senatorial District, Mr. Cletus Obun made the call over what he said is the “inability of the registered Voters to collect their PVC” shortly after he collected the PVC in his Beebo/Bumaji poling unit.
He said the call for extension became of necessary because the numbers of the people who registered but could not get there card due to some challenges beyond the distribution officer.
He called on the Cross River State INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner, Barr Mike Igini to immediately extend the period, observing that those teething challenges should be immediately looked into.
“Mr. REC sir, I bring to you these observations after a tortuous trip home to get my PVC in Bumaji where I surprisingly met one Mr. Modey a supervisor (a dedicated and committed Young man).
“Also, the names on the register, have their Temporary Voters Card TVC but they can’t collect their permanent Voters Cards PVC, while those whose TVC were seen could not find their names on the INEC pasted register.
“I therefore suggest that if voter-apathy is not to be compounded by alienation or isolation, I implore you (REC) in the name of God to provide a second registration center for difficult terrains and wards like in Boki 1, Odukpani, Yala 2, Obanliku, Akamkpa, Biase, Obubra 1, Ikom, Yakurr 2 and Akpabuyo.
