As the Leadership of the just concluded National Conference get set to present their report to President Jonathan on Thursday 21st August 2014, the Academic Staff Union of University (ASUU) ‎has faulted the outcome of the report saying the union rejected the position that National conference is the answer to the problem of Nigeria.

In a statement during their last meeting in Calabar, obtained by CrossRiverWatch, the union said the conference was teleguided to achieve the organizers objectives.‎

“The statement which read in part‎; the national conference, inits conception ab initio, was conceived without a democratic, national debate, affirmation through a legislative procedure‎ in the democratic political institutions of the country.

“Its conception was arbitrary, its executors handpicked and it’s execution teleguided to attain the goals of its originators.

“The Conference that emerged is dominated by representatives of political-military-business wings of the self-same group/class that have created and sustained the political and economic crises suffered by our country and its people with tokenist participation of representatives of dominated groups and classes.

“The adoption of a socialist welfare state will be reinforced with decentralization of legislative powers, decentralization of executive power and general acceptance of contractual non concentration of power.
