‎My N200 Million Agriculture Business Park Will Create 2,000 Jobs In Medium Term – Amb. Nkoyo Toyo

The fourteen hectares Agriculture Business Farm and Park Plantation established by a representative of Calabar/Odukpani ‎Federal Constituency in the National Assembly, Hon. Nkoyo Toyo is targeting the provision of no fewer than 2,000 jobs at the medium term.

Investigation by CrossRiverWatch show that work is in progress at the farm site with major interest in poultry, fishery and piggery as well as Rice, Plantain and Vegetable plantation.

Also the staff, student and other administrative quarters of the farm are near completion while partnership with the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA) Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) and Federal Ministry of Agriculture to aid the personnel training have commenced.

Speaking with CrossRiverWatch on the progress on the farm, Hon. Nkoyo said with the cascading approach she will use to manage the farm, the farm will be the first in the East of the Niger where farming will be going on at the same time with a conducive atmostphere for resort and relaxation.

She said the beneficial constituents will form a cluster of cooperatives that will be trained by experts residing in the farm on how to start their own chosen farm product of their choice while her team of experts will be tracking them periodically to know their progress and challenges.

“With time, we will be planting/producing, processing, marketing and transporting all together from this farm to the retailers and end users and we believe in the medium term if you put the employment chain in this process together, we will be talking about 2,000 jobs for the people of Calabart, Odukpani Federal constituency.

“So far we have put in nothing less than N200 Million and giving another five years to these projects with the support of our partners, we will near our destination that will be beneficial maximally to my constituents.”
