Okorare Martina Kaka is one of the top actors in Nollywood who are making Cross Riverians proud. She has featured in numerous films including popular soap operas and also has her hand into production. Focused and determined to get to the top of her game both as a successful thespian and mother, she got married earlier in the year and in this interview with CrossRiverWatch, she says marriage will not slow her down.
You have not been around for sometime, is it because of your marriage or tell us, what impact your new married status has had on your acting career?
(laughs) Am very much around, I have been working on some projects with the support of my husband. My new status as a married woman has changed a lot of things but it didn’t affect my career in any way. It’s just that when you are married you have to adjust from single way of doing things to married. After God comes my family.
You say you have been working on some projects with your husband, tell us about the projects….
I have some latest movies that I featured in, such as “Love fever and Love wahala, Naija models, Tears for riches”. Am working on two movies at the moment, title withheld for now, it will be out before the end of December 2014 by God’s grace. Also I would like to tell my fans that am back on the sitcom “Crossed Road”, Produced by Mr. Emeka Ossia.
You are from Cross River but based in Lagos, what impact do you think Nollywood has had in Cross River State being the headquarters of Nigeria’s tourism industry”
The impact of Nollywood in Cross River state has really improved. I see movies produced and shot in Calabar, in our dialects as well, we will get there, it’s just a matter of time. Nollywood has been able to showcase the culture and heritage of Cross River state to foreign investors and the world at large.
You have been around for some time and you have steadily risen in your career and you are also doing well as a married woman which is a great challenge for some other Nollywood stars, what advice will you give to aspiring actors/actresses in Cross River State?
To my brothers and sisters aspiring to be actors, I encourage you all to be focused, humble and work on yourselves, glam without talent won’t take you far. Learn from the best and those that have been there before you, remember Rome was not built in a day; don’t be in a haste to shine. If you have it, you will definitely shine no matter how long it takes. Above all, put God first. God bless Nigeria! Thanks.
