Governor Liyel Imoke this evening inaugurated the campaign train of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in Calabar.
The event which took place at the Cultural Center saw the venue parked to the rafters with supporters of the party dancing and singing the praises of their leaders.
Imoke used the opportunity to again harp on the need for unity within the ranks of the party and charged the supporters to work hard and ensure President Jonathan gets 1 million votes from Cross River state.
He said his generation was exiting the stage for a new generation in Cross River state adding that his wish is not only for Senator Ayade to win next months’ election but to also become governor and perform better than him (Imoke).
He encouraged Cross Riverians to keep fate with the PDP noting that the future of Nigeria lies in Jonathan because he is younger than what the opposition All Progressives Congress, APC is presenting.
He specifically thanked Prince Jedy Agba for his understanding and decision to continue with the party despite the acrimony that arose from the primaries.
High point of today’s inauguration saw Prince Jedy Agba, Senator Ben Ayade and Governor Imoke all dancing on the podium to loud cheers and applaud from supporters.
The campaign train is expected to take off from Ogoja on Sunday where the PDP flag bearer, Senator Ayade is expected to commence his campaign and end with a grand finale in Calabar.
