President Goodluck Jonathan has directed that in addition to his duties as Minister of Tourism, Culture and National Orientation, Cross River born Edem Duke, should oversee the activities of the Federal Ministry of Information, until a substantive minister is appointed for the ministry.
Jonathan announced this appointment on Monday in a statement signed by the Special Assistant (Media) to the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Mr. Sam Nwaobasi.
The President’s directive followed the disengagement of Dr. Nuruddeen Muhammad, the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, who was overseeing the activities of the Federal Ministry of Information, and who is now the deputy governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Jigawa State, in the April 11, 2015 governorship election.
According to the statement, Duke has since resumed as the supervising Minister of Information.
