Following a directive from the national headquarters of the All Progressives Congress, APC to state chapters to send three names of ministerial nominees from each state, the APC in Cross River state on Monday sent three names to Abuja.

In a meeting of the state excos and caucus which held at Mangel Suites in Calabar, members were informed of the directive from the national headquarters and representatives from each of the three senatorial districts of the state broke into their respective meetings to pick their nominees.

After their respective meetings, the Southern Senatorial District returned with the name of Dr. Ntete Duke, who was the DG of the State Campaign Committee in the just concluded governorship election, the Central Senatorial District went for the incumbent state chairman of the party, Pastor Usani Uguru Usani, while the Northern Senatorial
District settled for the party’s governorship candidate in the just concluded election, Mr. Odey Ochicha.

The three names have been forwarded to Abuja and it is expected that the President Elect, General Buhari will eventually choose one of them to be Minister from Cross River state. The meeting and the nominations took place without any rancor.

The 1999 Constitution requires every state to have at least one Minister in the federal cabinet.
