Unlike the horse trading that trailed the emergence of the National Assembly leadership, all is now calmly set for the member-elect representing Abi State Constituency in the Cross River State House of Assembly, Hon. John Gaul Lebo to emerge Speaker of the Assembly at the inauguration billed for this morning (Thursday) at the State House of Assembly Complex in Calabar.
CrossRiverWatch gathered that there is no threat whatsoever to the deal struck last year between Ayade and the former governor, Imoke to give easy passage to the young lawmaker to emerge Speaker and this seem to have gone down well with majority of power brokers within the ruling PDP in the state.
Out of the five returning members of the House, Hon. John Gaul will be the only ranking member from the central senatorial district which is favored to produce the new Speaker as the northern and southern senatorial districts have produced the governor and deputy respectively.
Hon. Gaul told CrossRiverWatch that if elected Speaker, the Assembly under his leadership will be a lot more open, transparent and pragmatic in meeting the aspirations of the people of Cross River state.
