Cross River Governor, Senator Ben Ayade has scrapped the weekly Executive Council meetings.
The weekly meetings which review the activities of government in the state usually have governor, deputy, commissioners, special advisers and permanent secretaries in attendance.
The sessions have been largely regarded by a cross section of Cross Riverians as not adding any reasonable value to work done considering the fact that the meeting usually last late into the night every Wednesday crippling activities in the MDAs.
Ayade, who met permanent secretaries in the state public and civil service on Tuesday, said a monthly interactive session in the Executive Council Chambers will replace the weekly meeting.
The governor also scrapped the anti-deforestation task force put in place by his predecessor, Senator Liyel Imoke to checkmate illegal logging of the state forest reserves.
“Government has approved the disbandment of the state Task Force on Illegal Logging in the state while all offenders are to be fully prosecuted without delay,” he said.
