The Speaker of the Cross River State House of Assembly, Hon. John Gaul Lebo has produced a proposed legislative direction for the 8th Assembly, with a pledge to partner with the executive arm of government led by Governor Ben Ayade to transform the economy of the state and improve the lot of the people.
The proposed legislative agenda has already been distributed to the 25 members of the Assembly, with each member expected to make inputs to the document by way of contributions on the floor of the House.
In his Inauguration speech, the Speaker promised deep legislative reforms, with emphasis on good legislative governance and building a strong House Economy.
He emphasized that the 8th Assembly will develop a strong solution architecture for the state economy and members will become good solution and decision architects.
Lebo also promised to collaborate and partner with the state Governor, Senator Ayade, who he said has articulated achievable economic approach that will transform the state economy and reposition the state.
He hinged his optimism on Ayade’s proposed signature projects like the Sea port project, the 240 kilometer dual carriage Calabar-Ikom-Ogoja-Obudu super highway and the establishment of the Cross River State Infrastructure Company Ltd (InfraCross), a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) that will warehouse the state’s mega infrastructure development.
