The story of Evelyn Akawe from Bachebe in Obudu Local Government Area of Cross River State is a peculiar and very pathetic one.
For her, though her village is a stone throw from the luxurious Obudu Ranch Resort, the exquisite air of the ranch is far removed from her miserable life which has seen countless twists and turns since she was ten years old.
A resident of Mpape a suburb of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, Evelyn, at age ten (10), was married off to a native doctor because of the money her poor parents borrowed, to get a goat and a fowl for sacrifice.
The cruel sequence of events that followed that debilitating decisions have been revealed by Evelyn herself in this video by Bereke family, which has gone viral online.
