President Mohammadu Buhari today perfomed the ground breaking ceremony for the 260km Super Highway from Calabar to Obudu.
The super highway is one of Governor Ayade’s signature projects along with a Calabar Deep Sea Port which the governor has promised to complete in his first tenure in office.
The President arrived the Margaret Ekpo International Airport this morning from Abuja in company of one of the Chieftains of APC from the State, Barrister Okoi Obono Obla and proceeded straight to the venue of the ceremony at Nsan, Akamkpa LGA in Cross River State where the ceremony was performed.

While addressing thousands of Cross Riverians who thronged the venue to welcome him, the President said: “That I am here today to perform the ground breaking ceremony of this road underscores the importance the federal government attaches to it. I want to assure you of my determination as well as commitment of the federal government to ensure that this road comes to completion. I promise to come back to commission this road and I hope it will not be very long”
In Attendance was Governors Owelle Rochas Okorocha (Imo) Udom Emmanuel (Akwa Ibom) former governors, Donald Duke, and Liyel Imoke as well as Okoi Obono Obla who accompanied the president from Abuja in his Presidential entourage and sat at the President’s right hand.
