The Nomination of Pastor Usani Uguru Usani as Minister representing Cross River State in the Federal cabinet of President Muhammadu Buhari has elicited excitement in the Efik Kingdom.
The Obong of Calabar and grand patriarch of Efik Eburutu, Edidem Ekpo Okon Abasi Otu V, while speaking with newsmen during an interview said Usani will be a change advocate in Buhari’s cabinet if screened by the Senate.
The revered Efik king who said he doesn’t know Usani closely in person however said for President Buhari whom he knows for his passion for Change to have nominated Usani means he believes in his ideology on anti-corruption, employment generation and rapid development.
He urged the people of Cross River State to support the nominee to make needed changes in the development of Cross River State and Nigeria.
The Obong advised the nominee that if he scales through the Senate screening, he should represent Cross River State well.
“Don’t go there to just bear the name that I am representing Cross River, he should love the people be able to go there and attract federal presence into the State not just going there to add to the numbers like it used to be in the past.
“I’m not very close to Usani Usani but I know what the President stands for and who so ever he picked to serve as minister under him must have be someone thoroughly checked in terms of proven integrity, corrupt-free records and who can flow with the President with his program of change.
“We hope the President found Usani to have fitted into this to represent the people of Cross River State in his Cabinet.” He said.
