Video transcript of Honorable Legor Idagbo representing Bekwara/Obudu/Obanlikwu Federal Constituency making a case for the inclusion of funds for the reconstruction of Calabar- Ikom-Ogoja Road In the 2016 Budget

It takes you over 7 hours to drive from Calabar which is the capital of Cross River State to my Federal Constituency. I stand to be corrected, Mr. Speaker.

“Desirous of the need to explore the need for concrete, concerned that trailers carrying oil materials, cement and petroleum products, ply the road regularly and this high tonnage transporting vehicles were not envisaged when the road was constructed over 40 years ago,

Also concerned that the hardship being encountered on the road by travellers and the loss of lives due to accidents that are occasioned by drivers attempting to negotiate or navigate the pot holes on the road,

Disturbed that one of the factors hindering tourism in Cross River State, is the state of the highway; because it discourages a lot of tourists who come to Calabar from travelling beyond Calabar owing to the deplorable condition of the road,

The House resolves to mandate the committee on Works when constituted to include the money for the reconstruction of Calabar-Ikom-Ogoja highway in the 2016 Appropriation proposal.

The House resolves to mandate the committee on Legislative Compliance when constituted to ensure adherence to prayer 1.

Mr. Speaker with your kind permission, I will like to use this platform to commend the Governor of Cross River State.
