Students of Cross River University of Technology, CRUTECH Calabar campus who reside in the hostel are currently protesting the lack of water supply on campus.
The scarcity according the leadership of the protesting students who spoke to our reporter on ground, has lasted for more than a week.
According to them, “The cause of the scarcity of water is unknown, even the management has not told us what the actual cause is and have not made any effort at addressing it”.
They faulted the Hostel Governor saying, “The hostel leadership is not helping matters, they have not done anything to show they are our leaders”.
As at the time of filling this report the protesters had blocked the CRUTECH roundabout, stopping traffic through that route which empties into the new airport road, Calabar South.
Security men in the institution is currently negotiating with the aggrieved students to calm down.
